Egypt’s tourism market is strong

According to information from the Egyptian Tourism Minister, Mr. Garranah, income from tourism for the fiscal year 2008/2009 amounted to approx. 11 billion US $ - just 3 % below the figures for the previous year. This is a result of a record breaking season in the third quarter of 2008 and a 17 % income increase in the second quarter of 2009, based on quarterly accounts. In 2008 12.8 million tourists visited Egypt.
